Autocad 2012 For Mac

The second release of AutoCAD for Mac has been announced and contains many enhancements requested in feedback from AutoCAD for Mac and also including many AutoCAD 2012 for Windows features. users. Below is list some of the changes I noticed in this new release which to me feels like it has added some raw horsepower to its performance.

How is AutoCAD LT 2012 for the Mac different from AutoCAD 2012 for the Mac you ask? It is only sold via the Mac App Store for delivery and only the US/Canada. There are three other main differences similar to the Windows versions of AutoCAD LT compared to full AutoCAD.

AutoCAD for Mac 2012 and AutoCAD WS for Mac will be available worldwide on August 19, 2011. AutoCAD LT for Mac will only be available in the U.S. and Canada on August 16, 2011.

The new portfolio of AutoCAD products for Mac expands options for millions of users of the popular design, documentation and collaboration software. AutoCAD 2012 for Mac was built specifically for OS X Lion and helps users create stunning designs on their platform of choice. AutoCAD LT for Mac enables users to document designs, optimize workflow and collaborate with colleagues and clients. AutoCAD WS for Mac enables users to view and collaborate on DWG files through the Mac interface. In addition, AutoCAD WS users can plot DWG files to PDF or DWF formats and sync with their cloud-based AutoCAD WS account, making files accessible from their AutoCAD WS mobile app. AutoCAD LT 2012 for Mac and AutoCAD WS for Mac are available exclusively in the Mac App Store.

AutoCAD LT for Mac follows common native Mac application user interface guidelines, with a familiar Apple menu bar together with a number of workflow-based palettes. AutoCAD LT for Mac also supports native Mac OS X behavior, including Cover Flow navigation and Multi-Touch gestures.

If you are trying to install Autocad LT 2012 for MAC and you purchased it on the Apple App store, don't bother. Acad does not support this software anymore. I am able to use it on the original Mac I purchased it for but it will not load onto any new computers. Loading new drivers or updates does not help. AutoCad's solution is to purchase new software. Problem is, I already spent $900. for the software. Acad needs a serial number to update but Acad does not supply the Apple Acad App with a serial number. Too bad, the program works well on a Mac and I am otherwise mostly happy with the software. It is bad business in my opinion not to continue to support a product. Currently, Acad has said they are looking into a solution but have suggested I use the 30 day free trial in the meantime. Waitingfor a response from Acad

It is stated clearly on our website, that we only support the three most current versions of products. It is also shown, which operating systems AutoCAD LT for Mac 2012 will work with. AutoCAD LT for Mac 2012 has not been sold since 2012 at which point the current Mac OS X was Lion and eventually it was supported on Mountain Lion. Please note that Lion and Mountain Lion are not supported by Apple any longer either. Should they still support this and earlier versions dating all the way back to Cheetah from 2001? So many changes occur from OS to OS and version to version, that it becomes increasingly difficult to support older products that were designed for older operating systems.

Thanks for the response. I put my blurb up on your website as I want towarn other users about this problem with 2012 so they would not have to gothrough what I have.I look forward to your solution. Thanks,Frank

One pain point in recent years is the Migrate Settings. You are prompted the first time you open a brand new install to migrate your settings from an older release. When you do this the very first time you run the program and run into problems it provides for painful troubleshooting, because we don't know if it was a bad install or if the migration broke something. Many times over the years since AutoCAD 2004 I've had to reset he AutoCAD profile back to the default settings and this had to be done manually. Once we had integrated the "Migrate from prior release". It required you edit the Windows Registry (always a risky thing) and removing files and folders of the hard drive. The "Reset Settings to Default" does what we had to do manually in the past with an option to "backup" your current configuration. This will make things so much better for everyone that has an AutoCAD profile issue. So, all you do is Exit AutoCAD and click the Windows Start>All Programs>Autodesk>AutoCAD 2012>Reset Settings to Default icon. Note: The path will be different depending on your Operating System and AutoCAD vertical program.Select the option to Backup and Reset. Browse to and save the backup file. Then you will receive the confirmation dialog. Now your AutoCAD profile (and files) have been removed. The next time you launch AutoCAD it will kick off the secondary installer just like it did the very first time you ran it.Thank you Autodesk!!! Autodesk stopped supporting Apple's Macintosh computers in 1994. Over the next several years, no compatible versions for the Mac were released. In 2010 Autodesk announced that it would once again support Apple's Mac OS X software in the future.[30] Most of the features found in the 2012 Windows version can be found in the 2012 Mac version. The main difference is the user interface and layout of the program. The interface is designed so that users who are already familiar with Apple's macOS software will find it similar to other Mac applications.[22] Autodesk has also built-in various features in order to take full advantage of Apple's Trackpad capabilities as well as the full-screen mode in Apple's OS X Lion.[21][22] AutoCAD 2012 for Mac supports both the editing and saving of files in DWG formatting that will allow the file to be compatible with other platforms besides macOS.[21] AutoCAD 2019 for Mac requires Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) or later. 2ff7e9595c
